Automatic Overclocking Parameters. Part I

Some motherboards have special parameters for a complex overclocking of the system which allow increasing its productivity, not going into settings of separate components. This method is available for beginners, but its effectiveness may be not very high and in some cases the system can even be unstable.

Dynamic Overclocking (D.O.T.)

With the help of this parameter, one can activate the technology of dynamic overclocking which is used in a set of MSI motherboards. The system monitors the burden for the processor, and when it reaches its maximum its productivity will be increased. And after the burden decline the processor will automatically return to its normal mode.

Possible values:

  • Disabled – dynamic overclocking is not used;
  • Private, Sergeant, Captain, Colonel, General, Commander – selection of one of these values allows defining an acceleration level of the processor from 1% (for Private) to 15% (for Commander).

Some MSI motherboards allow performing extended adjustment of dynamic overclocking. The parameter “Dynamic Overclocking Mode” allows selecting components for overclocking, and adapting overclocking levels for the processor and PCI Express bus with the help of parameters “CPU D.0.T3 step 1/2/3 setting” and “PCIE D.0.T3 step 1/2/3 setting”.

CPU Intelligent Accelerator 2 (C.I.A. 2) 

C.I.A 2 is a technology of dynamic overclocking similar to D.O.T.  but is used in Gigabyte motherboards.

Possible values:

  • Disabled – dynamic overclocking is not used;
  • Cruise, Sports, Racing, Turbo, Full Thrust – selection of one of these values defines an acceleration level of the processor from 5% (for Cruise) to 19% (for Full Thrust).

Memory Performance Enhance

(Performance Enhance)

This parameter allows increasing the productivity of memory in Gigabyte motherboards and of some other manufacturers.

Possible values:

  • Standard (Normal) – memory overclocking is not used;
  • Fast, Turbo, Extreme – selection of one of these values. Depending on the motherboard model, an effect of these values may vary.
